The Minnedosa Pothole Region

I customize my hunts to the particular group I am hosting. I gather information on what you’d like to do through phone and e-mail correspondence. Variables such as weather and bird movement at the chosen dates will help determine exactly what methods will give you the best opportunity at high numbers of birds.

There is nothing more satisfying than decoying ducks and geese. It never gets old watching a group of large Canadas coming from across a field, lured by call and a well thought out decoy spread. Or the rush of adrenaline one gets when the snow if flying and big northern mallards are falling into the decoys as if being pulled by some invisible force.

I pride myself on putting my hunters where the birds want to be and then using superb calling and ultra realistic decoys to ensure they don’t change their minds. I encourage my hunters with calling experience to join in calling. Those with no experience and a desire to learn, I’ll show them the basics and give them a foundation on which to build.

Our hunts take place in private agricultural fields (barley, wheat, peas), sloughs and lakes. I have exclusive rights to some of the very best fields adjacent to large roosting waters that hold high numbers of resident as well as migrating ducks and geese. I’m also very committed to rotating my fields to limit pressure to keep the birds as fresh as possible. Water hunts are also very rewarding. Our area, “The Minnedosa Pothole Region” as the name would suggest is littered with puddles and sloughs which are very accessible and productive.
